3. What are the differences between the Definitive Piano Improvisation course and Hand Coordination, Runs & Fillers course?

The two courses serve different playing needs and challenges. They are two different courses. Definitive Piano Improvisation course covers a variety of techniques to help the player improvise on the piano, arrange songs using different left hand techniques and chord techniques (broken, straddle, and many others). It also entails many different styles such as blues, ballads, new ages etc. The goal is to help a player be able to make up tunes and enjoy piano playing. (You can read more about the course here)
Hand Coordination, Runs & Fillers course helps you become more coordinative when playing with both hands, and more independent with the left hand. The course also covers techniques to construct one's own runs and fillers based on the melodies or tunes. Exercises are structured based on these purposes. (You can read more about the course here) Many of our customers have both courses.

4. Which course should I order, the Definitive Piano Improvisation course or the Art of Piano Sight Reading course?

Each of our courses is tailored to specific piano playing needs. Here are some facts that will help you make a decision:
  1. If you have taken piano lessons for many years, but do not know how to play piano without reading music, then the Definitive Piano Improvisation course is suitable for you. It is designed for those who already play piano but rely on reading music. Piano improvisation is one of the least taught techniques in private lessons. This course focuses on the application part of piano playing. It helps you understand why certain songs are composed the way they are and how you can make up and improvise your own songs as well. (You can read more about the course here)
  2. If you find reading music hard, and challenging - Mastering The Art Of Piano Sight Reading is the solution. This course is carefully designed to help you become a better sight- reader using a systematic approach. Many exercises are included to help you take your music reading to the next level. (You can read more about the course here)

5. I like playing jazz, should I get the Definitive Piano Improvisation course or the Sweet Sounds of Jazz Improvisation course? Is the Sweet Sounds Of Jazz course included in the Definitive Piano Improvisation course?

If you would like to improve your jazz improvisation skills, the Sweet Sounds of Jazz Improv course is the right choice for you. This course is a 2 hours DVD drilling on different ways to jazz up your tunes. The techniques taught in the Sweet Sounds Of Jazz Improv course are not covered by the Definitive Piano Improvisation course. They are sold separately because they are two different courses. (You can read more about the course here)

6. How long will it take to see improvement on my playing after using your courses?

This is a tricky question to answer because it depends on many factors. One of the important factors is the time you spend in practicing. All we ask is that you practice at least 30 minutes a day in order to improve your playing skills. Those who practice consistently will make faster progress (within weeks). We received a lot of testimonials from our customers on how our courses helped them improve their playing skills. We posted some of them in Customer Review section.

7. What is your return policy?

We offer 30 days money back guarantee. If you do not find our product satisfactory, you may return the product within 30 days for a full refund except shipping and handling cost. We have sold thousands of copies and have a return rate less than 2%. The industry standard is 15%.

8. I am from a different country (non -US). I'm wondering what currency is used to purchase your course? Is there a charge for currency conversion by the credit card company?

All of our courses are priced in US dollars. They can be purchased in US dollars only. When you use a credit card issued by a non-US bank to purchase our courses, the exchange rate is determined by your credit card company. Each credit card company charges a minimal conversion fee when converting different currency to US dollars. You may check with your credit card company to confirm the rate. The currency rate varies every day. There is a currency converter in the Contact Us page for your reference.

9. Do you give private lessons?

Not any more. Teaching private students only allows me to help one student at a time. With the aid of a DVD home study course, more people can learn and benefit from my teaching. Nowadays, I spend most of my time developing new courses to help piano players.

10. Do you have offices in cities outside US?

No, we don’t have offices in the foreign countries. Our main office is in California, USA. We ship everything from our fulfillment center located in McHenry, Illinois, USA. If you live in United Kingdom, Australia, Hong Kong, Singapore, you can call the local phone numbers which are listed on the Contact Us page to reach us.
